Milk, like most other foods, does not have the same popularity all over the world. There are countries whose inhabitants consume milk in very small quantities or do not consume it at all. However, there are also countries where milk is an integral part of the daily diet.

In ancient Rome, milk and dairy products were popular as cosmetic treatments. So, it is not surprising that the legends about the milk baths of Cleopatra have survived to this day and many people all over the world like this procedure.

Milk is popular and loved by people, it often attracts the attention of many researchers, so opinions about milk consumption diverge. Milk began to be questioned in the 60’s, when scientists from the United States said that saturated fat and cholesterol were very harmful to our health.

They also said that drinking milk contributed to weight gain, stimulated heart and circulatory system problems and caused a heart attack, noting that milk and dairy products were the greatest pests to the human health. Over time, this topic has been studied by many scientists from around the world.

There are different and even radically opposite opinions about drinking milk and eating dairy products in society. Some people say that the human body is not intended for milk and dairy products, others cultivate their useful properties and rich nutritional value.

The harm and benefit of milk is a topic that interests all people who care about their health. Milk and dairy products are positioned as healthy foods. Almost all information about them we get from corporations – producers of dairy products.

In practice, milk and dairy products undergo significant processing and provide a very limited list of nutrients. Dairy products contain a lot of different elements in their composition that can be harmful, useful or neutral for the body, depending on the characteristics of the body itself and the source of dairy products.

Milk can begin to harm our body, if you choose high fat milk and you are physically inactive. Our taste buds are designed in such a way that fatty food seems more delicious to us, but if we want to consume a lot of fatty foods, we need to move a lot and exercise on a regular basis.

#1. Drinking milk can increase the risk of cancer. A high level of calcium can increase the level of insulin in the blood. Insulin is considered a cancer promoter.

#2. It can lead to diabetes. Lactose can increase the level of sugar in the blood and cause such a serious disease as diabetes.

#3. Poor bones. Our body gets a lot of calcium with milk. However, vitamin D is more effective for strong bones that calcium.

#4. Milk can lead to sclerosis. Drinking too much milk can affect your brain and lead to multiple sclerosis.

#5. Chronic inflammation. Milk calcium can do much harm to the body, because it is highly acidic. If you want to increase the level of calcium, you should better add more almonds or figs to your diet.

#6. Problems with digestion. Drinking too much milk can lead to bloating, diarrhea, or other problems with your digestive tract.

#7. A high level of cholesterol. Milk can increase the level of cholesterol in your blood. Be careful, and do not drink it too much.

#8. Skin problems. Drinking too much milk can lead to acne or skin irritations and inflammations.

Studies show that preschool children who consume more than 750 ml of milk a day and who do not move very often will develop problems with excess weight over time. Regular consumption of fatty dairy products can affect the weight of an adult, but this can be avoided by choosing foods with a lower fat content.

Scientists consider cottage cheese as one of the most useful dairy products. You can find both calcium and phosphorus in it, and both of these substances are very important for bone health, they reduce the risk of osteoporosis. In addition, cottage cheese contains many other useful nutrients and minerals.

Some yoghurts are also considered valuable and useful, but making your choice in the store, it is important to study the composition of yogurt. Manufacturers often add artificial colors, additives and too much sugar, and these supplements often outshine the useful properties of the yogurt itself.

Choosing dairy products, it is better to give preference to those that do not contain any additives. It is best to add greens, fruits or homemade jam to these products yourself, then you will know exactly what you are eating.
